Style Icons Of A Different Era /Part 1

Hello everyone! Αυτή η ανάρτηση όπως θα καταλάβατε και από τον τίτλο είναι αφιερωμένη στο στυλ. Χωρίς το στυλ μόνη της η μόδα δεν μπορεί να σταθεί  γίνεται μουντή, χωρίς ζωντάνια και σκοπό .. νομίζω ήταν η Coco Chanel η οποία πρώτη είπε:''Fashion fades,only style remains the same''
Σε αυτό το πoστ λοιπόν για να μην μακρηγορώ,θα δούμε διάσημες κυρίες οι οποίες -η καθεμιά για τους δικούς της λόγους έγιναν συνώνυμες της κομψότητας ,της φινέτσας και μας έρχονται στο μυαλό κάθε φορά που κάποιος λέει τη λέξη: ΣΤΥΛ

  • Born Marie Magdalene Dietrich to Luis Erich Otto Dietrich and his wife Wilhelmina Elizabeth Josephine (nee Felsing) on 27 December 1901 in Leberstrasse 65 on the Rote Insel in Schonberg,the younger of 2 daughters..as a child she was affectionately called ''Lena'' as well as ''Lene''...nicknames given to her by her family.Dietrich was known to be a fashion icon and was one of the first to introduce the androgynous look to women of the time who looked up to her for inspiration...Marlene had a soft spot for menswear and she certainly knew how to wear it well.Apart from tailored 3 piece suits she loved wearing pencil skirts,form-fitted dresses and blouses made by the most luxurious fabrics.True to her status as a style icon ,she once remarked :'' I dress for myself.Not for the image,not for the public,not for the fashion,not for men''.

  • Vivien Leigh, Lady Olivier as she was known, was born Vivien Mary Hartley on 5 November 1913..to Ernest Hartley and Gertrude Mary Robinson Yackjee.She made her first stage appearance at the tender age of three in the role of Little Bo Peep for her mother's amateur theatre group.Vivien's first husband was Leigh Holman ,13 years her senior with whom she had her daughter Suzanne.Her second husband was Lawrence Olivier a much acclaimed thespian who was knighted Sir, thus providing Vivien with the title ''Lady Olivier''.Vivien was known to be intelligent ,a great actress who often lost herself in her roles,a delicate as well as a fragile creature but above all she was a woman that defined beauty, style and last but not least the one who gave life to a role that many of us will remember with affection for years to come.


Princess Grace of Monaco/Grace Kelly











  • Princess Grace was born Grace Patricia Kelly on  November 12 1929 to John Brendan Kelly and his wife  Margaret Katherine Majer and she was the third of four children.The Kelly children were Peggy,John Brendan Jr,Grace and Lizanne.From a very young age Grace was known to have a soft spot for everything that had to do with theatre ..a far cry from her family's love for everything athletic. In 1955 Grace went to Cannes for the film festival as a delegate for the U.S,there a meeting with Prince Rainier of Monaco was arranged.Little did she knew that this meeting would lead to a whole new chapter of her life.Grace married Rainier on 19th April 1956 and upon her marriage she gained the title of ''Her Serene Higness,Gracia Patricia ,Princess Consort of Monaco''.Apart from an actress and a princess she was also a fashion icon..she loved to wear gloves and silk scarfs,wearing her blonde hair perfectly coiffed and last but not least who can forget that the Hermes ''Kelly'' bag was named after her?
